We made a Christmas cake this year! First time since the millenium. Haha!
Hubby always makes the Christmas cake and this year he had two helpers. Our teenage son lost interest after the fruit steeping stage but our younger son was well up for it! (As you can see above)
Now normally the favoured recipe is Delia’s Christmas cake but this year Mary Berry was chosen for her skills. You can find the recipe that we used here http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/classic_christmas_cake_04076
We obviously haven’t tasted it yet but even though I’m not a fruit cake fan I will admit that it looks GORGEOUS!
It has been sat in the corner of my kitchen now in a new cake container (follow this link to see the one I purchased for weeks now and has been gradually fed with brandy every 2 – 3 days.
This Sunday it will be iced and decorated so I will pop back to this post with a finished picture of it.
Here is one when it came out of the oven, it smelt divine!
Are you making your own Christmas Cake or pudding this year?
I’d love to hear your favourite recipes and decorating techniques.
Thank you for reading,
Here is the final cake after it was all fed and iced. The decorations on top were made of marzipan. (Excuse the sweatiness of the decorations, I’d just travelled for 50 miles with the cake box on my lap and I think it got a bit warm!)
